It is early morning, I’m in my car, after a Nature walk at the Bed and Breakfast. Mom and the girls are still sleeping. I am up, walking and writing. Rain has started, but it’s not lasting, done by 12:00pm. The adventures of the day will be delayed a bit. No need to rush. We have plenty of time, no where to go, but to the adventure. The destinations are interesting, but the adventure is the real goal of the day.
Yesterday we visited a renovated mental hospital, which included lunch and shopping. Stopping at Grammies’s old school, where she taught first grade, we met the principal and the current first grade teacher. Before making our way to Sutton’s Bay, we landed at a small beach on the West Bay. Inexpensive ice cream at the quaint town boosted our energy. Next stop, Old Mission.
At the B & B, we feel like we are in Italy, with the grapevines and Italian style villa. It is quiet and peaceful. Viewing the cherry trees from our rooms, reminds us that we are in our beloved Michigan. The rain has let up and the rays of sun are peeking through the clouds. Perhaps another walk in emanate, before the adventure begins.

Summer is about adventure and exploration. The school is anchored in routine, while the short stint of summer is free flowing. Off on a trip today with my eighty plus year old mom and two teenage girls is an adventure in itself. We have loose plans and open schedules. The rest we will fill in as the mood suits us.
Where will we go? What will we see? Who will we meet? The answers lay past the plan and beyond the schedule. It’s a place that I long for at the same time, I feel a bit anxious. Do I have what it takes to meander through the moments as they come? Is the stamina in me, to remain calm and steady, through possible chaos and confusion?
I have trained for this. The “why” I do yoga, mediate, and walk is here. Rubber meeting the road, comes to mind. Can I Self-care, as needed, before burn out? We will see. Yet, I am feeling calm, which normally is not the case before a trip. Prepared I Am.
Let’s do this!
